Kilburn Social Club Event
KILBURN SOCIAL CLUB
Wednesday 16th September, 8pm
Robert Hudson will be reading from his epic debut novel The Kilburn Social Club, following the runaway success of his visit to West End Lane Books earlier this month. Set in an alternative North London, where liberal utopia is a reality rather than a dinner-party dream, this charming and humorous novel brilliantly evokes scheming families, socialist football squads, philosophising freedom fighters, the vagaries of big business and - above all - the beautiful game.
"A terrific book, for all sorts of reasons... This is a fizzy, funny, fantastical first novel."
--Robert MacFarlane
"It's the kind of book I can imagine people would get quite obsessed by"
--Alex Hemming, BBC Radio 6
"Ambitious in the most quirky sense ... I thought it was tremendous."
--Tim Bowler, Radio 5
