Jen wrote about C

Despite – and often aided by – its morose tendencies, C is a highly comic novel. McCarthy gradually immerses us in Serge Carrefax's perspective, where we hurtle through the defining events of his life, experiencing them in our peripheral vision, all the while being confronted with the trails of codes and hidden meanings these events leave behind. C manages to examine the impossibility of communication and the encrypted codes we use to connect with each other without feeling bleak.
